Quit Smoking Support

Almost every smoker decides to quit smoking at some point or another and for most of them it is very difficult, especially if you don't have any support. An attempt to quit smoking is an attempt to end a serious addiction and shouldn't be taken lightly. Some studies have shown nicotine to be as addictive as cocaine. Therefore, it is very important to have as much support as possible when trying to quit. Don't hesitate to tell people that you are trying to quit smoking as their support will be invaluable.

Many people are reluctant to tell people when they first attempt to quit. For one thing they feel they might put unwanted pressure on their friends to quit smoking also or they don't want to make them feel guilty. Another reason for not telling people is that they have a fear of failure and if they don't tell anyone then no one will know if they have failed. The problem with this is that if you don't tell anyone that you are trying to quit smoking then you will be trying to achieve a very difficult task alone, with no support. Most people find that if they tell their friends and relatives that they are trying to give up cigarettes then they find themselves with instant support. Who wouldn't support someone who is trying to make a change which can save their life? A few of your friends may make light of your attempt at first but if they see you are serious they and others will do their best to support your decision by helping in any way they can. For example, they will support and encourage you in times of weakness and many won't smoke in front of you as a sign of support.

Anyone who is a true friend will not smoke in front of you and will not allow you to smoke if they know you are trying to give up. A true friend will also never offer you a cigarette if you are trying to quit. A true friend will always encourage and support you to quit smoking. This support is crucial when you attempt something as drastic and important as quitting smoking. Don't be stubborn thinking you can do it on your own. It will be extremely difficult without any help and there is no need to go through it alone. There is no shame in asking for or accepting help. It can even help if you try to quit with someone else. You can then compare progress and tips. This is probably the best kind of support you will find.

Rather than keeping your attempt to quit smoking cigarettes to yourself, tell all your friends, family, and colleagues. Ask them to support you in times of weakness. Ask them to support you with advice and tips. Some of them may have quit smoking themselves so these tips could help more than you know. People will support you if you want them to and you might even find they will try to quit with you.
