Lose 10 Pounds by Sticking to a Routine
Almost everyone would like to lose weight as some point or another, either for a particular event or just because they've gained a few pounds here and there and are now a bit, or a lot, overweight. Losing weight, even if it's just 10 pounds, can make you feel and look better as well as do wonders for your self esteem. Setting yourself a goal of losing 10 pounds is a reasonable target for most people and can be achieved with some easy modifications to your diet and exercise regime. How can you lose 10 pounds and keep it off? Simple, get into the routine of eating healthier and exercising more. If the changes you make become routine then you will lose weight without even thinking about it.
Most diets fail because they are difficult to stick to; it's as simple as that. If you want to lose a few pounds or more you need to make simple changes to your eating and exercise habits, not drastic lifestyle changes. The best way to avoid diet failure is to set realistic goals, to plan what you are going to do to and incorporate these changes into your daily routine.
It's important to find out what works for you. What changes can you make to your diet without sacrificing your lifestyle? What type of exercise will fit into your daily life? How can you make these changes permanent? The answer is in planning and routines.
If you have decided that to lose 10 pounds you must walk 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week, then you need to plan exactly when you are going to go for that walk. Are you going to get up early to go for a walk or go for a walk as soon as you get home from work or would you prefer to go during your lunch hour? It doesn't matter what you decide so long as you make a decision and stick to it so it becomes routine. If you don't plan for exercise and make it part of your regular routine then you'll end up stopping when you get busy. Exercise needs to become part of your typical day.
The same type of planning is required to make permanent changes to your diet. If you decide that to losing weight requires creating 3 new meals per week then decide how you are going to do it. Where are you going to find the recipes? Which days are you going to eat these meals? Where and when are you going to buy the ingredients? If you don't plan then you'll find that you 'don't have time' to make 3 new meals a week. Set aside certain days for certain meals. For example, Mondays might be a fish meal, Wednesdays a low fat chicken meal, and Fridays a vegetarian meal. That way you'll always know in advance what you'll need to prepare and you won't grab a takeaway at the last minute.
Weight loss is not as difficult as people think, especially not to lose as little as 10 pounds. Small, healthy changes to your lifestyle will result in gradual weight loss. Don't expect too much too fast. Make small changes that will easily fit into your daily routine. Making routine, healthy changes is the key to long term weight loss.
