Baby Sleep Problem
It is inevitable that you and your new born baby will experience sleeping problems and many sleepless nights. Babies often wake up during the night crying for their mothers. It is therefore essential for a parent to establish good sleeping habits for your baby to avoid long term sleeping problems in the future. Every baby goes through a transition phase where she goes from sleeping with her mother to sleeping alone. This is a natural but can take time. To speed up the transition process and to help your child avoid sleeping problems we recommend you set and stick to a sleeping schedule as soon as possible.
It's important to remember that baby sleep tips are just that, tips. They are possible solutions which may or may not work for your child. It is therefore important to trust your instincts and try different things until you find the right solution for you and your child. It is normal to experience anxiety and insecurity as a first time parent. If something doesn't seem right to you then it probably isn't. Don't be afraid to try different things but always be sure to use common sense and trust your parental instincts.
One tip we strongly recommend you consider when trying to get your baby to sleep through the night is to look carefully at her feeding habits. If your baby is very active during the day and doesn't eat much she may then wake up during the night wanting to be fed. This is clearly the last thing you want. One method to avoid this is to be sure to feed your baby sufficiently during the day. Try to feed your baby every 3 hours or so. This should ensure your baby is satisfied and will sleep through the night. The other benefit of this is that as your baby gets older she will begin to associate eating with the day time and will be less likely to want to eat at night. If your baby does wake up hungry at night then try to get her to eat as much as possible so she won't wake up again looking for another snack. Of course, you need to do this only where it is natural to do so. This means you don't want to force your baby to eat when she is not hungry but you do need to manipulate the situation a little bit, rather than having your baby dictate to you.
We have found this to be an excellent yet simple tip to help your baby to sleep through the night but it is just one tip. It is just a guide which may or may not work for you. However, it is worth giving it a fair go. Don't just try it once and then say it didn't work. It is a gradual process to get your baby to sleep through the night so you need to try this technique over at least a few days but preferably a week or so.
The main point of this is to get your baby eating and sleeping like an adult as soon as possible. They should eat during the day and sleep during the night. This is the ultimate goal and can be achieved with a little discipline and consistency. Feed and play with your baby during the day and give her a bath and a short bedtime story at night before bed. This is a good start to setting a sleeping routine for your baby which is what is required to avoid sleep problems and to get a good nights sleep.
